Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond opened up to the Mirror, saying cynically: “I honestly can’t imagine them sitting there planning to make announcements on the same day as a royal event. They’re bigger than that, aren’t they?”

Bond adds: “It’s true that there have been some strange coincidences in the past with the timing of some of their announcements. But I think they’re becoming less and less relevant to the news here.”

King Charles has compassion in difficult times
Despite these incidents, the royal family has recently made its loyalty clear during a spate of royal engagements. During Royal Ascot week, King Charles (75) invited Lady Gabriella Kingston (43) to accompany him in one of his carriages on the first day of the parade.
