Thomas Markle has not seen his daughter, Duchess Meghan, for several years. But he often speaks publicly about her
When Thomas Markle celebrates his 80th birthday, his daughter Meghan (42) will probably not send him flowers – and certainly not show up at his door in person. But that would probably be his greatest gift.
For years, there has been radio silence between the wife of Prince Harry (39) and her father he will spend his 80th birthday in Rosarito, Mexico with his son Thomas Markle Jr. (57, Meghan’s half-brother). His daughter Samantha Markle (59) wants to at least call from Florida.
“Everything has been overshadowed by what has happened in the last six years,” complains Thomas Markle. That’s how long he has n’t seen Meghan , who married into the British royal family in 2018 and then turned her back on the royals with her husband Harry . Shortly before his big birthday, there is (once again) a dig at his daughter.
Duchess Meghan and her father Thomas Markle were once one and the same. But that was a long time ago. “Meghan was angry with me because I posed for some paparazzi photos before the wedding,” he explains
“I know that the person I would most like to hear from – Meghan – is not going to get in touch,” he said publicly to his daughter. He continued: “I would also like to meet my grandchildren, but at this stage I would be happy with a photo.”
His grandchildren Archie (5) and Lilibet (3) are said to have never seen their grandfather Thomas. And his son-in-law Harry has never visited him either, the senior complains. “When I look back on my life, that’s one of the questions I can’t find an answer to,” says Markle. He complains: “What man gets married without meeting his wife’s father?”

Meghan’s father sees himself in the same boat as King Charles III (75), who also does not have a good relationship with his son Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan. “I would like to speak to him because I am sure he has as many unanswered questions as I do,” says Thomas Markle. “The most important is why they have treated not only me, but also the royal family and the king so badly.”
Meghan’s father: “I don’t expect to hear from Meghan and Harry.” He predicts that the royal dropouts will one day ask their children “why they cut them off from both sides of the family.” And that will certainly not be a celebration.
