Kate Middleton gives Trooping the Colour update amid news she may be ‘considering’ surprise appearance

Kate Middleton has stepped back from Royal duties whilst receiving treatment for cancer, but fans are wondering if she could appear at Trooping the Colour this weekend

Kate Middleton is reportedly considering appearing at Trooping The Colour

Speculation is rife that Kate Middleton could be considering making a ‘surprise appearance’ at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

The Princess of Wales has stepped back from the spotlight since the start of the year, when she went into hospital for ‘planned abdominal surgery’, before she made the shocking revelation in March that she was receiving treatment for cancer.

The letter reads: “I wanted to write to let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour. I appreciate everyone Trooping this year has been practising for months, and dedicating many hours to ensure their uniforms and drill are immaculate.

“Being your Colonel remains a great honour, and I am very sorry that I am unable to take the salute at this year’s Colonel Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however, I do hope I can represent you all again soon. Please send my very best wishes and good luck to all involved.”

Kate finished the letter by handwriting the Irish Guards’ motto Quis Separabit, which means ‘Who shall separate us?’ and signs it ‘Colonel Catherine’.

Royal fans are no doubt hoping Kate will make an appearance on Buckingham Palace balcony

It currently remains a mystery if Kate will appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside the Royal Family on Saturday, however, ITV News’ Royal Producer Lizzie Robinson thinks she could well be there.

Speaking on A Right Royal Podcast, she highlighted the fact that Kensington Palace confirmed Kate would not attend the Trooping the Colour rehearsal on 8 June, however, they are yet to say anything about her attendance at the official event on 15 June.

Lizzie said: “What’s interesting is that they’ve confirmed that the Princess of Wales is not going to do the Colonel’s review, which is the weekend before Trooping the Colour. She’s obviously still undergoing preventative chemotherapy, she’s still recovering, but they haven’t said specifically that she won’t be at Trooping, which has left this question mark over whether she might be there.

“I think anybody who is undergoing any kind of cancer treatment, things have to be decided on a day-by-day, week-by-week basis.”
